Mathy Sommer

Mathy is a very involved and active member of the PTO Association, where she promotes job sharing, leads workshops, presents corporate job sharing models, and provides coaching.

Her diverse experiences as a human resources manager, regional manager, and as a human resources manager for an employment agency help Mathy gain a holistic view of the job market and the needs of candidates and companies.

Mathy was born in Sri Lanka and moved to India as a child. She spent her teenage years in French-speaking Switzerland before moving to the United Kingdom, where she graduated from Oxford Brookes University. After working for several years in HR in the hospitality, banking, healthcare and FMCG industries, she took an extended maternity break in her career due to the surprising difficulty of finding a part-time HR position. In 2009, Mathy successfully completed his Swiss federal patent in human resources. After the birth of her second child, Kelly Services offered her the opportunity to become a part-time branch manager in her host city of Fribourg. September 2016

Wanting to reduce her workload and become a slasher , Mathy started as HR Manager (French-speaking part) at Randstad in February 2018. Randstad not only allowed her to work 50% in this role, but also a flexible work schedule that created a healthy work-life balance and allowed her to encourage job sharing at the same time. Mathy enjoys connecting and supporting people with the goal of making a positive impact in their lives.

Mathy has been married to a German woman for more than twelve years and is the mother of two children. She has been socially involved as a board member of Espacefemmes (www.espacefemmes.org) since 2011 and as a member of the NGO Zonta Club ( www.zonta.org) . She is currently co-vice president of the Zonta Club Fribourg, job-sharing with her colleague Monika Müller-Sapin.
