Myriam Marano
Expert Job- and Topsharing
For several years, Myriam Marano has been active in the association PTO, among other things in the area of organization of events.
After passing the Federal Matura with a focus on Latin and New Languages and training as a management secretary, Myriam Marano worked for several years in various SMEs in Fribourg before following her husband, a professional consular employee, abroad for ten years. During this time she continued her voluntary work in various international organizations.
Upon her return to Switzerland, M. Marano was hired by Meggitt SA (Fribourg-based company that primarily manufactures vibration systems for the aerospace industry) as an executive assistant in the R&D Engineering department, which consists of about 150 engineers. For one year, she shared this job at 50% with a student hired for the same work as part of the job sharing scheme. Despite an age difference of 15 years, this was a very enriching and motivating experience for both of them, in which they were able to develop differently according to their respective expectations.
After a few years, the desire for change led M. Marano to work in a completely different industry: Today, she is the administrative manager of the Bioinspired Materials research focus at the Adolphe Merkle Institute, which specializes in nanotechnologies.
The mother of two teenagers, she has also been active in PTO since 2015, where she helped organize the first Swiss colloquium on job sharing. M. Marano was also co-organizer of the 2nd International Colloquium 2017 in Basel.
